A continuous mathematical field for independent manipulation of harmonic pitch and temporal transients with morphable sample-accurate convolution.
Decoupling Pitch and Time
Traditional audio transformations treat temporal duration and harmonic frequency as coupled axes. Pitch shifting scales frequency and shortens duration unless compensated through windowed grain extraction.
The Unified Pitch-Time Field (UPTF) models audio as a continuous two-dimensional signal field. Harmonic content and temporal transients are parameterized independently, permitting upward pitch shifts while transient attacks decelerate.
Mathematical Field Formulation
The representation maps input signals into an orthogonal coordinate basis where trajectory curves define independent pitch and time warp factors. Inverse transformation reconstructs the audio without phase discontinuities.
Real-Time Performance
Vectorized implementation across AVX-512 and ARM NEON executes at approximately 9.8 times real-time speed on Apple Silicon. ABX and DAFx listening tests demonstrate artifact-free reconstruction across complex polyphonic material.
Processing Throughput48 kHz stereo audio transforms in 102 microseconds per millisecond of signal on an Apple M4 Max.
Morphable Convolution
The field formulation supports sample-accurate morphing between measured impulse responses. Continuous interpolation between plate reverb models and acoustic space captures proceeds without audio dropouts or phase cancellation.
