Privacy

Vibe Meter collects nothing about you or about what is on your disk. There is no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising identifier. Nobody at this end can see what is on your disk, because none of it is ever sent anywhere.

What the app reads

To do its job the app reads file and folder sizes, process names and their memory figures, and the system's own memory and swap counters. All of that stays on the device. It is held in memory while the app runs, and in a scan file on your own disk if you save one.

When the app uses the network

The Mac app reaches the network in three situations and no others, and only in the copy downloaded from this site. The App Store version does none of them: it is sold, licensed and updated by the store, and its sandbox is not granted network access at all. None of the three carries a file name, a folder name, a size, or anything else the app measured.

Checking for a new version. Once a day it fetches a small file that says what the current version number is. The request contains no identifier and no information about your machine beyond what any web request unavoidably reveals, which is your IP address and the time. Nothing is logged against it and nothing is downloaded or installed automatically. Turn the check off in Settings, or block api.quilio.dev, and it fails quietly.

Activating a licence. When you enter a licence key, the app sends it to the activation server along with your Mac's hardware UUID, the identifier macOS gives the machine. That tells the server this is the same Mac as last time and nothing else about you. It happens only when you activate.

Signing in. Signing in with Quilio ID is optional and exists so your licence arrives without you copying a key across. The app receives your email address, your display name and whether the account holds a licence, and keeps them on your machine so it can show who is signed in.

Folders you grant

When you choose a folder to scan, macOS gives the app permission to read that folder and remembers it so you are not asked again. That permission lives on your machine and can be withdrawn by removing the folder from the list inside the app.

Buying

Payment is handled by Moonbase, who take your email address and payment details in order to sell you a licence. Their terms and privacy policy apply to that transaction. The app never sees your payment details. It sees your email address only if you choose to sign in.

iOS and Android

The mobile apps have no network code at all. Android reads per-app storage sizes through the usage-access permission you grant in Settings, and it works without that permission if you would rather not. iOS reads only its own memory and the folders you hand it through the Files app.

Children

Vibe Meter is a developer utility and is not directed at children. Since it collects nothing about the person using it, it collects nothing about them either.

Changes

If this ever changes in a way that matters, the date above changes with it and the app will say so before the change takes effect.
